Baby album-September Mood Board

I just love the autumn theme for the September Mood Board over at the Maja blog. It’s so refreshing after the hot summer. It’s of course based on the Walking In The Forest collection. My take on this months Mood Board is a special one. It’s a baby album for the first weeks of my baby that I’m expecting in October.

I’ve actually had this album half-finished in a drawer since last year, but didn’t know what to use it for. When I finally got pregnant after so many years of trying an idea of an autumn album for the baby’s first weeks started to form.

I had so much fun when I created the covers for this album. I’ve used a Prima Mixed Media set and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist and Heidi Swapp’s gorgeous Color Shines. I painted the bobbinet with Gesso and attached the clock faces on the sides of it. The roses and the film strip does the rest.

Most of the flowers in this album are by Prima Printery collection, but some are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The vine, doors and bird is from Prima. The stamp is from the die cut sheet from Walking In The Forest collection. All patterned papers in the album are from that collection.
I’ve used my own brick template that I cut out on my Gazelle a long time ago. A bit too used by now… :) Stamp by Tattered Angels.

Here’s what the first spread looks like… I’ve attached a note paper from the 6×6 Walking In The Forest pad so I can do some journaling about the time at the maternity hospital.

If you lift the notepaper you will find the very first photo of the newborn baby…

And a little close up… I just love the stripes that Marie puts so much attention to. They make great decoration instead of just throwing them away. The mountain ash papers in this collection are true favourites of mine. I’m an autumn girl and just seeing a mountain ash in full bloom makes me happy. I love to pick the berries and decorate the house with them.

This spread is a reminder of enjoying the moment. Time will fly so fast when the baby is growing up and you really need to enjoy the moment. It is also a promise to the baby that I will give it time. My parents were always busy working when I grew up and never had time for me or my four siblings. I’ve always promised myself that I will not do the same mistake. I’m a bit of a workaholic, so that is a true challenge for me. But I will give it my best shot.

I’ve used a Distress Marker to add some extra details through the album. The clock is a Tim Holtz die, the tissue tape and clock face stamp is also by Tim Holtz. The safety pin is from a tag that was attached to a coat I bought at a vintage shop last year. White clock face by Prima.

The canvas with the litte hearts are also from a Prima Mixed Media album set. I really like those since they have a resist on them. All the cute cut outs are from the die cut sheet belonging to the Walking In The Forest collection. Love that little envelope.

Next spread… The left side is the back of the resist canvas. To the right there’s a plastic pocket where I can add memorable stuff. It’s empty right now, so you can see the time sheet as well. I will write something every day for the baby’s first weeks.

I’ve got a thing for black tulle so of course I had to use some… One of the ribbons have been coloured with Distress Stain (Weathered Wood). If you have these handy toys in your stash that is a good saving tip. Just buy white ribbon and you can colour it so you get the colour you need. The little owl is from the die cut sheet. Bling by Zva Creations.

More time sheets and to the right there’s room for baby photos.

I’ve used 4″ doilies as frames and cut out the circles with Nestabities dies (scalloped circles). Baby zipper by Prima.

Room for more photos…

I’ve used dies from Nestabilities for the photo frames and the swirl. Mushroom by Prima.

The right side is another misted canvas. I really love the English Ivy by Tattered Angels and the gold spray by Heidi Swapp (Color Shine Gold Lame) is the best one I’ve seen. A must have in my opinion. I’ve used a Basic Grey die cut as a mask and used Texture Paste on it. I was thinking that I might fix the spinners on what time the baby was born later on. The vial (Tim Holtz) has been filled with glitter by Martha Stewart. The butterfly is from one of the stamps on the die cut sheet.

The backside of the canvas and room for more journaling…

More Prima flowers, cream one from Petaloo. Love the mushroom resins by Prima. They truely fit in well in this album.

As you can see there’s another plastic pocket for keepsakes. I’ve tried to add journaling pages to be able to write down memories. This one has got some Viva Decor Inka Gold to it.

This is the last spread I will share today… I’ve got more plastic pockets and time sheets after this, plus a plan on making more photo sheets. But I will save that for later on when I know how much is needed after the baby has been born. This spread is called “I Will Always Be There…”
I’ve used the same green colour of Inka Gold on the background. The “light” from the lamp is a mixture of Gesso, yellow acryllic paint and Inka Gold Gold. The journaling is a continuation of the tag from the right side that says “I will always be there…” and goes as following
to light a lamp when it’s dark
to give you a blanket when the nights are cold
to give you a hug when you most need it
The right side is another resist canvas by Prima.
I hope you all got inspired! Don’t forget to stop by the Maja blog to see what the fabulous Creative Team has come up with this time. And… Your chance to win a Maja collection of your own choice!
