Mood Board April

Yesterday I wrote my very last Maja Design posting since I will be leaving the company the 13th. It’s been a fun ride, but it’s time for me to move on. So here’s my very last Mood Board contribution…Jenny_GrotherusI have used lots of textures, bricks, torn egdes etc as the mb suggests.Jenny_Grotherus4I have used white texture paste and different colours of texturez by shimmerz for the background. The grungeboard die cut has been embossed, painted, sprayed and distressed. Borders by Martha Stewart and Tim Holtz. Metal and rub on by Tim Holtz.Jenny_Grotherus3

Nestabilities dies, Tim Holtz dies, Martha Stewart punches etc…Jenny_Grotherus2Some layers and die cuts…And here’s the Mood Board. Don’t forget to play along!

March Mood Board inspirational project

It’s Mood Board time again…
and here’s what I came up with…
JennyGrotherusI have used the feminine side of the Mood Board when scrapping one of my pregnancy photos. The borders have been created with Borderabilities dies by Spellbinders. Kind of handy when you only have stripes of papers left. :) All papers from Vintage Summer Basics.Journey_closeI have used a home made stencil for the textures and then stamped randomly with four different Tim Holtz stamps. Bling from Prima, Inkido and Zva Creative. Flowers by Prima, Wild Orchid Crafts and Re-Collections. Metal by Finnabair (Prima). Chipboard from ScrapFX.Journey_close2Another little close up. The cute elephant is from Websters Pages.

So don’t miss the opportunity to win a Maja collection of your own choice… Hop over to the Maja blog and join the fun!Jenny

Blue therapy

I really gave it all with the Mood Board this time. Not that it was a difficult Mood Board, but I had promised myself not to go for the blues or browns but use PINK instead. Fear oh fear. I was joking with the Creative Team that I will be needing blue therapy for a month now so here it starts. 😉joel_blaI have used blue papers from Vintage Autumn Basics in combo with some white cardstock. joel_bla2I have used texture paste that I have sprayed with Color Shine by Heidi Swapp. I have also used blue Texturez by Shimmerz. The chippie has been painted with Heavy Gesso (Liquitex) and stamped with one of my favourite Tim Holtz stamps Holly. I know, it’s a Christmas stamp, but who cares. 😉 All embellies by Prima.joel_bla3A little background close up. The number stamp is from Prima and I’ve used a white stamp pad to make it shine through on the blue paper…Jenny

February Mood Board

So it’s Mood Board time on the Maja blog again. Here’s one of my two takes on this months gorgeous Valentine mb JennyGrotherusThis is me and hubby when we got married almost nine years ago. Well. Time do past fast. I have used Maja Design Vintage Summer Basics and Vintage Spring Basics for this layout.

Pink is never my first choice of colour and I worked really hard not to make this a blue or brown one but the colours just came sneaking in no matter what I did. LOL. feb3The lovely lace was a bargain I made at a LSS. Flowers by Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts. The medallion and the metallic embellishments are from Webster’s Pages. Bling by Prima. Tulle from Stoff och Stil.   feb1My beloved wedding pearls. Ha ha. I think I use them everywhere…. The love letter from the mood board is represented by this little letter on the flower. Neat. :) Circular punch from Fiskars. feb2I’ve gone wild with Inka Gold on this one. Ha ha. Golden lady. 😉 I have used a mild gold colour and a green one. Shabby chic treasure by Prima, roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. Bling from LSS.feb4I have used some of the lyric lines from the Mood Board on a piece of see through vellumpaper. Frame from ScrapFX.  I have also added texture as the mood board says and added Inka gold to it afterwards. The gold textures is visible through the vellumpaper, gives it a nice effect.

And here’s the board for you to play with…. inspired by the beautiful Nyhavn collection.Moodboard-February15 So stop by the Maja blog for your chance to win a Maja collection of your own choice!Jenny

Know in your heart you are loved

I created a framed layout for my mil so I did the same for my mom…
mamma2She had just gone through hand surgery and Joel was climbing on her, jumping up and down. I have used the Life By The Sea collection by Maja Design.
mamma_5I have painted the chipboard with heavy gesso and distressed it with three different cololurs. The border chipboard has been treated with Distress Stickles. Chipboard from Dusty Attic and ScrapFX, flowers from Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts. Metal by Tim Holtz.

What I do like about framed layouts is that they are very easy to get dimensional. Bling and flower from Prima, metal by Tim Holtz.
mamma_2 Centre. The year sign was cut out with a Nestabilities die and stitched. The numbers are by TIm Holtz. Ribbon from LSS, star pins from Inkido.mamma_1And the down left corner…Jenny

A day in life

I made a trip to Gent a couple of years ago to attend the Scraptastic event. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. I met so many inspiring and wonderful friends along my way. After the event had finished I took the train to Brügge, a beautiful little town well worth the visit. adayin-lifeI wanted this layout to be very creative to reflect the journey. I stamped the background with Distress Ink Dried Marigold and Milled Lavendar, using stamps from TIm Holtz and Tattered Angels. I also sprayed it with Glimmer Mist Chalkboard. I added texture paste randomly. The blue texture has come to life with Shimmerz Texturez.adayin-life1The flower was created with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die plus a roller stamp by Dear Lizzy.  I have used Archival Ink Blue Violet and Venetian Orange. Chipboard from Scrap FX, metal butterfly from LSS. adayin-life2Scrollwork die by Tim Holtz/Sizzix.  I used a doily as a mask for the white texture paste.  I also added Perfect Pearls to the texture paste.adayin-life3I stamped a swirl and colourized it randomly every here and there. Not so perfect, more like a drawing you usually do when talking to someone on the phone. That’s what I wanted it to feel like. adayin-life4Another close up. I really love the Nyhavn collection. I like it’s colours and the Old Townhouses paper is so lovely. It’s a shame it’s a limited one. But I guess the best are… :)Jenny

Winter layout

I really enjoy creating Christmas cards, but there’s something special with a winter layout filled with snow… winter_
My previous layout on the Maja blog was packed with flowers. This one hasn’t got any flowers at all. I have used one of my favourite papers from Vintage Frost Basics for the background.

I sprayed a Tattered Angels mask with Glimmer Mist Slate and used it as a stamp on the background. I added stains of Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Gold Lame and Tinsel). I added white gesso on the snow flake mask (also Tattered Angels) and used that as a stamp as well. I added Viva Decor gold wax here and there. I’ve used a Tim Holtz mask and Shimmerz Texturez (Gritty Graphite and Teal Me No Lies) as well as Mica Flakes from Golden. winter2The chipboards have been layered and sprayed with Glimmer  Mist Slate and Color shine Golden Lame. Padlock from Prima. I have added some snow paint on the chipboards as well. winter3A final close up… Jenny

From Paris with Love-Nyhavn

December on the Swedish west coast is always a story about rain and wind. How the wet cold finds it’s way through all the clothes you so carefully put on in the morning and makes you soaked before you cross the threshold to the office. It makes it very easy to let your thoughts wonder away to a sunny Paris.parisI have had the privilege to play with our new Nyhavn collection during the Lucia weekend. As always it’s a pure joy. Don’t miss the fact that it’s a limited one so when it’s gone it’s gone. And. You get a bonus sheet if you buy the collection pack. It is not sold as a single sheet so it’s an extra treat. paris_1

We went to Paris on our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago. It’s lovely to just stroll around Montmartre and soak the romantic atmosphere. I have used laces and tulle from a LSS and Michaels.

I love the modern, but still romantic feel of this collection. I had a really hard time to tear these lovely sheets apart this time. Our last limited collection Sofiero sold out so quickly so I never got the chanse to replace my favourite sheets. Wise from the lesson it feels like I need to open up a bottle of champagne and make it a ceremonious ritual for every single sheet that I use.paris_2Flowers by Prima, Michaels and Magnolia. Metal from Prima, bling from LSS and Michaels.paris_3Funny thing. I got this tulle a month ago thought the colour was lovely. And then Marie releases Nyhavn with the exact same colour. It’s not the first time. Our style is very similar. Resin from Prima.paris_4

The lovely chipboard is from ScrapFX and has been painted and inked with three different colours (Ingvild Bolme and Tim Holtz inks). Roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. Doily die by Prima.

I hope you got inspired by my first Nyhavn creation, it will definitely not be my last. I am completely in love with the Old Townhouses sheet and must use it asap… For this layout I have used the following sheets:

Old Townhouses
A Dockside In Bloom
Romantic Lunch
Strolling Along The Canal
Veteran Ships
Eating Out
Sitting At The DockJenny

From Santa With Love

I really have a thing with the reds of the latest Christmas collection A Gift For You. I have used my favourite papers on this layout with Joel, I hope you’ll like it. fromsantaJoel was extremely fragile when I shot this photo. Our cat was heavy compared to him and he was approaching his birth weight very fast. We were so lucky to stay out of hospital on Christmas Eve. It was our goal that he was going to spend his first Christmas at home and I am so happy that he managed to. He’s a little fighter and is all well today. fromsanta3 I have used chipboard from ScrapFX, punch from Martha Stewart and a die from Spellbinders. I really love the frame on that pattern so I’ve used it a lot.fromsanta2Flowers and doily die by Prima. I have used the following sheets…

Boquet of poinsettias
Made By Me
From someone special
Given from the heart
Underneath the Christmas tree
Sent with love
Packed by Santas Elves
Wishing you peace & joy
Die cut sheet

As you may have heard from Elena Olinevich my house is very white… Or at least cream. I shot this selfie of me and Joel while we were wearing white and I got the idea to create a layout inspired by my house. Just like Elena did…

bliss_I have used a combination of A Gift For You and Vintage Summer Basics. I have used vellum paper and cardstock to build up the photo. bliss_2I have lots of cream, white and browns in my house. The wallpapers in my livingroom is a little bit too much Vintage Summer Basics. Hubby got nuts when he found out. I dress like Maja collections and now I put it on the walls too… Decorations from Prima and Tim Holtz. The texture paste on the background has been applied with a home made stencil.

Walk with me daddy plus some extras…

I created a special card for Johan’s first Father’s Day last year. This layout continues the journey…walk

I shot this photo of Johan and Joel while Joel was very ill and went in and out of hospital last year. I’ve used the same poem for this layout as I used on the card. Freely translated it goes like this…

Walk with me daddy
Hold my hand while we’re walking
There’s so much I want to learn
And so much I don’t understand
Teach me how to avoid all the danger every day
Teach me to always do my best
And be happy for who I am
Every child needs a loving hand
So they can have support and security
Come and hold my hand daddy
We have a long way to walk
I have used Sofiero and Vintage Summer Basics scraps for this layout…walk2All flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts. Chipboard from Scrap FX, pearls from Michael’s. Lace from LSS.walk4I have used a stripe from one of the Sofiero papers for this beautiful Tim Holtz frame (painted with ordinary white gesso). walk3
The acryllic frame is from Prima, doily by Wild Orchid Crafts. I’ve used scraps from Sofiero and Vintage Summer Basics to create the little circles. I’ve used Ingvild Bolme chalks and Distress Ink to stamp sewing patterns on them and the larger background scraps.
And here’s what the old Father’s Day card looked like last year, created with the wonderful Vintage Autumn Basics collection…FathersDay1

fathersday5 FathersDay8I also made a little gift box to go along with it…fathersday_box fathersday_box2I have also got a Christmas layout to share with you today, created with A Gift For You…sentwithloveThis photo was shot of Joel on Christmas Eve last year. He was so tiny. Just two months old and very sick…sentwithlove2I have used a little hanger (7Gypsies) to put ribbon on it. Dies from Spellbinders, punches by Martha Stewart. Flowers from Prima, chipboard from ScrapFX. sentwithlove3

I love to use stripes and die cuts from the various Maja collections. They really bring something extra.
I hope you all got inspired. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
