Hot air balloon – Mood Board October

This creation is quite special to me. When Marie and I went to CHA this January I dragged her into Barnes & Noble so I could buy as many books as I could carry. I tried to bribe her with cheese cake, but she’s so sweet she didn’t need that much persuasion. While I was trying to figure out what books would be honored with space in my suitcase Marie was shopping inspiration for her drawings. Among those were some hot air balloon drawings that she interpreted in her own way. The minute I saw the papers I just knew I had to make a hot air balloon…

I tried to find some inspiration online and of course the very talented Miranda Edney delivered. I’ve made my own version where I’ve used the same shape as one of the balloons on Marie’s drawings, but Miranda’s photos were truely helpful. To create a sturdy base I’ve used the 12×12 sheets that we use as packing material on Maja. They are thick as chipboard and very sturdy.

The basket was made out of paper. That’s what I love about Maja. The papers are so thick you can basically create just about anything with them. I’m going to put this above the crib, so it needs to be able to deal with a punch or two. Otherwise I would probably not have needed the chipboard base.

I’ve added a Melissa Frances frame with 2013. The balloon will be a keepsake for the future for my baby. Just love how the balloon pattern peeks out from the balloon.

This is my first attempt on Sizzix Susan’s Garden dies. So bare with me. 😉 I’ve used three different collections for the flower. Vintage Autumn Basics, It’s Christmas Time and Vintage Spring Basics. Just love how you can combine the collections to get all the right colours.

The banner reads “A time forever etched in our hearts and memories”. I thought it quite appropriate for this matter.

A big thanks to Terese who helped me photograph this creation. My big stomach truely makes it difficult to shoot any photos right now. :)

If anyone is interested in the template I created for the balloon, just give me a shout and I’ll fix it for you.
